Within the Practice we have a team of highly skilled nurses.
They are available for any general advice on a wide range of health problems.
The Nurse Practitioners see patients with a range of medical problems and can deal with some issues that would otherwise have needed a GP.
Working in the Practice every day the Practice Nurses run smear clinics, asthma, diabetic & HRT checks, ear syringing, INR, minor ops, travel, blood pressure, and cholesterol clinics.
Our Health Care Assistants provide a range of services such as blood pressure monitoring, new patient checks, wound dressing and health reviews.
The Practice Phlebotomists are responsible for taking samples for blood tests and some Healthcare Assistant duties.
The Community Midwife is available to provide help and advice throughout pregnancy. She sees all pregnant mums regularly during their pregnancies, both at antenatal clinics and also at Parentcraft courses; she will subsequently follow up after birth with visits at home.
Trying for Pregnancy? - Our midwife is available for counselling advice.
The District Nurses are highly qualified nurses who have undergone further extensive training to enable them to specialise in providing high quality care to patients in the Community.
Home visits are made at the discretion of the District Nurse and are usually only made to patients who are unable to get out of the house, or have been assessed by the District Nurse as having a physical and/or medical problem which prevents them from attending the surgery.
The District Nurses also hold wound clinics and 'doppler' clinics.
We have a Community Matron in post with the surgery at present. The Matron 'case manages' some of our patients with specific health problems, helping to set up packages of care and to help patients avoid upsetting and sometimes unnecessary admissions to hospital. The Community Matron will visit patients in their own home where appropriate.
Health Visitors can be contacted directly by telephoning 01246 253025 between the hours of 09:00 – 10:00 and 16:00 – 17:00.
We have direct access to appointments with Physiotherapists.
Anyone requiring help with services or care at home can seek advice and an assessment through the Social Services Department. Tel: (01246) 347777.
If you are enquiring about a residential or nursing home placement, please contact the above number and they will arrange for the necessary assessments.
We have a Practice Pharmacist who works closely with the clinical teams to provide medicines management and expert medication support. Our Practice Pharmacist also undertakes medicine reviews with patients and supports the scripts team with queries and administrative work.
