Methods of Cancelling an Appointment

If you have booked an appointment with a Doctor, Nurse or other member of staff, it is really important to let us know if you need to cancel it, so we can give it to another patient. You can cancel your appointment by calling into the surgery, phoning your branch surgery or by requesting online access and doing via your online account.

Why is it important to tell us you want to cancel your appointment?

In December 2018 362 appointments were lost due to patients failing to cancel their appointment. This wasted nearly 80 hours of clinical time, meaning everyone waits longer to be seen. By telling us in good time that you cannot keep an appointment, we can offer your appointment to someone else. This helps us to reduce waiting times and means everyone can be seen sooner. Please work with staff at the surgery by ensuring that you cancel appointments that are no longer required. Every patient (including yourself) will benefit from this.

The practice policy regarding repeated missed appointments may mean that patients who routinely miss appointments without cancelling them may be asked to register elsewhere. Whilst this decision is not taken lightly it is taken in the best interests of all our registered patients.
